The discussion will take the form of a virtual fireside chat on the EU responses to the Covid-19 pandemic.
In particular, we plan to cover the following themes:

• The lessons learnt from Germany’s GreenBund;
• Germany’s position on implementing Basel III, in light of Covid-19.

Dr. Jörg KukiesState Secretary for Financial market policy and European policyDr. Jörg Kukies is the State Secretary for Financial market policy and European policy at the German Federal Ministry of Finance since April 2018.
Before that, he was the Co-Chief Executive Officer of Goldman Sachs AG and Managing Director of the Frankfurt branch of Goldman Sachs International between 2014 and 2018. Between 2011 and 2014, he was the Head of equity derivatives for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Goldman Sachs International, London.
Between 2004 and 2011, Dr Kukies was Associate and then (from 2007 to 2011) head of the equities division for Germany and Austria, Goldman Sachs International, Frankfurt. He began his career at Goldman Sachs International, London, in 2001 as an associate in product development team.
He studied Sciences Economiques at Pantheon-Sorbonne University, Paris, and received a Master degree in Public Administration, John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University. He obtained a Ph.D. in finance from the University of Chicago, Graduate School of Business.
